Hid its prices? It may not collect your bill.
In Colorado and Oklahoma, a hospital that broke the price-posting rules on your date of service can’t chase the bill. Unposted checks its price files as they stood that day and hands you the evidence.

If your hospital hid its prices, it may have lost the right to collect your bill.
Two states turned a federal price-posting rule into a defence for patients. If a hospital wasn’t compliant on your date of service, it can’t pursue collection, and in Colorado it can owe you a penalty equal to the debt. Unposted checks the hospital’s archived price files for that date and turns them into evidence.
- Step 01
Archives every hospital’s price files
Agents save each Colorado and Oklahoma hospital’s machine-readable file and shoppable-services page every day, and pull older copies from web archives.
- Step 02
Checks them against the CMS rules
Each file is tested for what CMS requires: the file itself, its schema, the required fields, the dollar amounts and the shoppable services.
- Step 03
Dates the evidence to your visit
Send your bill and date of service. You get a report with exhibits showing how the files stood that day, plus a self-help dispute letter.
Built for Colorado and Oklahoma patients facing hospital collections.
The date-of-service report
Your hospital’s price files checked against CMS requirements as of your visit, with archived exhibits.
A self-help dispute letter
A letter you send yourself, built on the facts in your report. It states evidence, never legal advice.
A free public compliance ledger
Every hospital in the state, with a compliance verdict for each month, open to patients and lawyers alike.
First up: We start by publishing a free Colorado ledger: every hospital, with a compliance verdict for each month.
The world just changed.
What changed, and where it was reported.
Colorado C.R.S. 25.5-1-903: a hospital not in material compliance on the date of service ‘shall not initiate or pursue a collection action’. If found noncompliant, it owes a penalty equal to the debt plus attorney fees.
Colorado Revised StatutesOklahoma SB 889 took effect: hospitals that fail the price-posting law cannot collect on a patient’s medical debt, and the bill’s sponsor says patients can sue.
Yahoo NewsPatientRightsAdvocate’s eighth report found 49.4% of about 2,000 hospitals fully compliant with the federal rule, the highest ever. Earlier reports ranged from 16% to 34.5%.

What a person does
A contested case is yours, or your own Colorado or Oklahoma licensed lawyer’s. A human expert signs the declaration on our method for court, and counsel checks that every report stays factual evidence, not legal advice.
The law bars collection; patients own the claim. Unposted only documents a hospital’s price files on a date: no ‘you don’t owe this’ advice, no report without a real collection action, no claim the archives don’t show. Cases go only to licensed local counsel. We take no share.
Will this make my hospital bill go away?
We can’t promise that, and we never tell anyone they don’t owe. We give you dated facts about the hospital’s price files. What they mean for your case is for you or your lawyer to argue.
Has a court applied this penalty yet?
We found no reported Colorado decision applying it, so ‘material compliance’ is still untested. Hospitals will contest the method, and archives for older visits can be thin.
Do you work in my state?
Only Colorado and Oklahoma for now, the two states with these laws. Bills elsewhere have not been confirmed as passed.
